Our Coating Flow Laboratory includes a pilot-scale
rotary coating machine. It can be used to explore
the behavior of various liquids as they are
continuously applied, via a system of rollers,
to a moving substrate or ``web''. The machine
may also be configured for printing and
laminating applications. Recently experimental
studies have been performed to assess the effectiveness
of surfactant additives in improving liquid
transfer onto substrates of low surface energy.
